Concerto 13 / 2nd Movement

Omar Rajeh / Grand Theatre, Maqamat Dance Theatre, Dancing on the Edge

This co-production was a special collaboration between Maqamat Dance Theatre (Lebanon), Grand Theatre (Groningen, The Netherlands) and Dancing on the Edge (The Netherlands).

During an audition in Amsterdam, the artistic director of Maqamat, Omar Rajeh, chose two dancers to work with his company for a period of time in Beirut, Lebanon. The documentary Dancing in Beirut (Ruben Giscchler, 2007) was made about this special experience.
The show had a try-out in Beirut and premiered in Groningen (Grand Theatre) at the Dancing on the Edge Festival, which further took place in two other cities, Amsterdam (Frascati) and Rotterdam (Rotterdamse Schouwburg) in December 2007.

13/2nd Concerto Movement was then invited for two performances at the Beirut International Platform of Dance (BIPOD Festival), a performance at the Balamand University in Lebanon and a show at the Biennale Danse L’Afrique during the Recontre Choreographiqes in Carthage, Tunisia.
