Dancing on the Edge Festival 2017

Cutting edge dance, theater and installation art present the artistic exchange with the Middle East and North Africa during Dancing on the Edge Festival 2017. Conflicts in the region and blurring borders have literally brought us closer together: on stage this leads to the most exciting encounters. Dancing on the Edge is home to everything that crosses the border: a platform for cultural merging, bold art, and adventurous visitors.

Dancing on the Edge believes in the power of art to take you beyond what’s known. Art as a laboratory to experiment, meet, and at times touch upon the more sensitive parts of our society. Asking questions instead of looking for simple answers, making the world bigger. Without ready solutions, but with a focus on complexity, multi-dimensionality, and above all humanity.

The 6th edition of the festival marks the 10 year anniversary of Dancing on the Edge. In the past 10 years it has brought high quality, innovative, international performing arts to The Netherlands, showing a diverse and multi-layered side of the Middle East. By now borders have been blurred and Europe has become the home for many new artists. We are excited to embrace, present and challenge this talent too. Instead of defining “here” and “there”, we look for new and open spaces to exist and create in together.

The full program and ticket sales will be announced towards the end of summer 2017.
