Wishuponastar – a fatal love story

Smadar Yaaron / Acco Theater Center

A penetrating journey through historical religious identity to Isreali nationalism in the present. In this cleverly staged solo piece, consisting of movement and text, where the daughter of holocaust survivors marries the Star of David and waltzes on her wedding night to Wagner music, the issues that plague the modern Jewish state are brought to light. Confrontational questions are posed about national identity, the separation between religion and state, and the plight of the Palestinians.

The Acco Theater Center (ATC) in Israel blazes innovative trails in the realm of social theatre, striving to forge strong alliances between Arab and Jewish artists, offering alternative paradigms and encouraging open and fruitful expression within the larger society.
