Open Call – DOTE Scholarships 2024

The 13th edition of the Dancing on the Edge Scholarship Program is open for applicants.

Every year since 2012 we call on aspiring young talents from West Asia (also known as the Middle East) and North Africa (together known as the WANA region), to submit their applications to attend the Amsterdam Summer Intensive (6 to 26 July 2024).

Dancing on the Edge offers the opportunity for dancers to immerse themselves in an international setting with other dedicated dancers pursuing professional careers. The Amsterdam Summer Intensive is a three-week dance workshop program, organised by Henny Jurriëns Studio, a prestigious dance training institute for professional-level dancers in Amsterdam. It will take place in a beautifully refurbished former church that became a complex with 8 studios and a café. The dancers will have access to workshops on repertoire and creation as well as masterclasses by highly qualified teachers and will participate in a variety of dance classes, including ballet, contemporary, Gaga, and more.

Who are we looking for? You are a dancer from and (partially) based in the WANA region. You are 27 years old or younger and have at least some (and preferably substantial) training and performance experience in ‘contemporary’ dance. You have enough resources to pay for food and other personal living expenses that may occur in this period, and have or will be able to acquire a health/travel insurance.

The scholarship will cover visa costs (if applicable), travel, accommodation as well as the fees for attending the Amsterdam Summer Intensive 2024. We will take different factors into consideration, including dance talent and experience, motivation, but also accessibility to opportunities (past, present, and future) as well as the stage of each applicant’s career.

Please note that your application will only be considered if it includes a video that demonstrates your dance skills as well as a (written) motivation. However, the video does not have to be a professional one. A short video with your phone is perfect as long as you make sure that you and your skills are clearly visible.

The call is open until:
Monday, 26 February 2024, 23:59 (CET).
