Lina Issa

Lina Issa (1981) is a mother, artist, writer and curator among other identities. She is one of the co-creators of DOTE festival 2019 and 2023/24.

She lives in Palermo and works between different contexts and geographies. Lina left Lebanon to attend a master’s degree in Visual Arts at the Jan Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, Netherlands (2003-2005). She then completed another Master’s degree in Visual Arts at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, Netherlands (2006).

Lina’s work develops around the themes of embodied memory, displacement and performativity of (cultural) identity. Her work explores the question: what if you took my place, could you feel what I feel?

Her nonfiction literary debut, titled “Where We Are Not: Ten Days in Another’s Life,” was published in Dutch by the prestigious Van Oorschot publishing house, Amsterdam, in 2022.
