Babs Gons is a spoken word artist, writer and host based in Amsterdam. She has been the artistic force behind numerous spoken word initiatives in The Netherlands and her work is featured on radio and television, she travels regularly to literary festivals in different parts of the world like Sudan, South Africa, Curaçao and Brazil.
She is a host of various programs, including the National Poetry Slam and the musical-literary show Babs’s Word Salon and writes articles and columns for a variety of magazines and newspapers. In 2018 she won the Black Achievement Award for the Arts and recently won the international spoken word competition Slam-O-Vision, a competition between different Unesco Cities of Literature, in which she represented Utrecht City of Literature.
