Wajd Mansour

As a result of my curiosity and interest in bodies and movement, and with the encouragement of my parents, I started dancing when I was 16 years old. After many years of practicing and performing with folk dance groups, I got interested in contemporary dance, and joined a contemporary dance troupe by the name of Balance Dance Studio.
I enrolled in the dance department of The Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, in Syria, in 2019. Now I am a third-year student in the institute. I like to watch contemporary dance performances, as well as physical theatre such as DV8. And I prefer the work of choreographers such as Pina Bausch, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and Akram Khan.

Wajd is one of the receivers of the Dancing on the Edge Scholarships 2022.
