Audition for Male Dancer/Actor/Performer

12 September  13:00-17:00
at the Henny Jurriens Foundation
Bellamystraat 49, Amsterdam

For a 4 week research period for his new production Plastic, Tunisian director / choreographer Meher Debbich Awachri is looking for a Netherlands-based male dancer/actor/performer. The rehearsals will take place daily (mainly afternoons) in November in Amsterdam except for the last few days which will take place in Utrecht at Het Huis, and will result in a showing of the work-in-progress. A modest payment is available.

If successful, the initial research period will be followed by a creation period in 2015 (Tunisia and/or The Netherlands/Europe), with a series of  performances later in the year. The premier will take place during the Dancing on the Edge Festival 2015.

Candidates should:
– have a strong physicality, some movement training, and a strong stage presence
– have an open mind and ability to improvise/co-create
– be able to act and work with text
– speak English or French
– be European
– be between 20 to 30 years old

Meher Debbich Awachri is one of Tunisia’s most promising young theater directors / choreographers. His performance D-Sisyphe won first prize at the Thespis international Monodrama Festival in Germany, and toured internationally including at the 2013 Dancing on the Edge Festival in the Netherlands.
