DOTE Lab

Imagining ‘our’ future, practicing our future

A four-day artistic lab at the heart of the festival, where different festival artists, local and international artists, theater and dance students, and interested members of the festival audience come together in an open studio space for an intimate encounter of each other’s working processes and artistic material.
A contemplation on ways of being together, an exchange of the things that inspire and move us, of that which has made us who we are. It is a great privilege and investment to come together during a festival. This year Dancing on the Edge focuses on imagining collaboratively how the festival can assume more radical forms of feeding and supporting artists’ practice beyond ‘showcasing’ them. How to create communities and solidarity among artists? And how to write alternative multiple and inclusive narratives and futures together through our exchange and practices?
The DOTE Lab will host a maximum of forty participants. Each day will be co-curated and facilitated by participating artists, such as Hooman Sharifi, Onur Karaoğlu, Khalid Benghrib, Hoor Malas, Mayar Alexan, Hilda Moucharrafieh, Ramzi Choukair, Youness Aboulakoul.

Participation is by request only, click here for the participation call.

17.11.2019 – 20.11.2019 10:00-19:00 (including eating together) Amsterdam Dokzaal.
Spoken language will be English.

The DOTE Lab is part of our European cooperation project Performances beyond two shores. Some artists are especially invited to join this gathering as well as some other events of the festival.
