Zeina Sfeir (Lebanon) | Lebanon | 2001 | 30 min | Arabic spoken, English subtitles
Voices from the Middle East, in collaboration with Beeld voor Beeld – Documentary Film Festival on Cultural Diversity.
In this personal documentary, filmmaker Zeina Sfeir compares Lebanon before and after the war. She feels a deep sorrow for the old Beirut that she knows through the stories her parents told her. She feels the present day is not so different from the days during the war. Clichés about religion have been transferred to the new generation. Young people nowadays seem very enthusiastic about the war. Exactly like in 1975. The war is endless.
