Othello

Atefeh Tehrani / Indra Theatre Group

Passionately performed by a cast of Iranian theater artists in a choreography by Atefeh Tehrani, Shakespeares ‘Othello’ is presented in a way rarely seen. While remaining faithful to the original story with its elements of love, envy and conspiracy, the intensely physical and dramatic interpretations are considered daring and controversial in Iran.

For this piece, Tehrani won the International Association of Theater Critics Best Director Award for the play at 28th Fajr International Theater Festival in early 2010.
Othello has previously been performed in Teheran, Krakow, and Hamburg.

Performed by: Indra Theatre Group / Mina Hosseinabadi, Mohammed Hossein Valizadgan, Mostafa Shabkhan, Seyedamir Anjaviamiri, Shirin Farshbaf Shotorbani, Layla Hosseini, Saba Nazi Enjileh, Ashkan Afsharian, Aliakbar Mosaferastaneh.

“A wonderfully ingenious and moving re-enactment of Shakespeare’s classic.” – International Association of Theater Critics
