Revolutionary Bodies

International Multimedia Research Project

This project was with artists and organizations that developed a strong expertise in contemporary performing arts in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The project explored the transformation processes in contemporary dance and performance art with a focus on the body as an instrument of resistance. Giving voice to Arab citizens who try to re-position themselves through art, music, theatrical improvisation, satiric cartoons, photography, video installation and dance. Egyptian and Tunisian people occupied public places peacefully to celebrate the fight for freedom.

The project aims were to generate a synergic collaboration: an opportunity to display artists’ audiovisual memory of the transition by producing an online publication that can serve as a database for thematic exhibitions, academic research, cultural policy development and even urban planning.
