Ayamus

Ayamus works in the domain of documentary photography, but his work is characterized by a desire to move beyond narrowly defined notions of genre and style. His ethnographic approach to photography results in a strong sense of commitment to the people he meets during his travels through Europe, the Middle East and South Asia.

By following the people in their daily practices, Ayamus shows a keen eye for the politics and poetics of the everyday. The stories Ayamus tells through his work range from themes such as surviving poverty and violence, to decadence and youth culture, to identity formation and migration. Binding the work together is a unique sense of intimacy that the photographer establishes with the people that share their stories with him.
