El Sadiq-a

El Sadiq-a (they/them) is a queer non-binary refugee performer artist from Morocco, living in the Netherlands. El Sadiq-a is a rapper, slam poet and storyteller. They’re focus is on queering the oral lore wherein knowledge, art, ideas and cultural material is received, preserved and transmitted orally from one generation to another. Through stories and songs El Sadiq-a shares the customs, rituals, beauty, pain, joy, sadness, laughs and tears of Moroccan queer identities. Exposing these emotions, and telling these stories contributes to the preservation of the realities where queer did not just existed, but also leading, contributing and creating history. “To me, art is more than a statement, it’s a weapon of the oppressed, against the falsifications of the oppressor” (El Sadiq-a).
