SPOTLIGHT ON: TUNISIAN THEATER

The 4th edition of the Dancing on the Edge Festival presents two theater performances from Tunisia. Renowned director Ezzeddine Gannoun, playwright Leila Toubel and the El Hamra Theatre from Tunis present the European premiere of Monstranum’S. “Pure, engaged, authentic theater. Raw and real.” quoted Sabri Saad El Hamus. Established performers stand next to those from a new generation in this edition of the festival and the young Tunisian theater director Meher Debbich Awachri will also be performing. His graduation piece D-Sisyphe was turned into a professional production, and with it he won the 1st prize in the Thespis International Monodrama Festival in Kiel, Germany in 2012. Neues Deutschland quoted: “Awachri is a phenomenally flexible performer”. Dancing on the Edge Festival presents the Dutch premiere of this performance.
