Performance(s) between two shores عروض بين شاطئين is a European Commission supported program to commission and tour three new works created by Arab performance artists who have been based in Europe for up to six years. The program has the following key aims: to support the creation of dynamic new works; to support the development of Arab artists in Europe; to develop new international audiences; and to develop a skills exchange between the project partners.
A call for artistic proposals launched in June 2016. After the jury’s deliberation in September 2016 in Brussels, the three selected projects are:
- Personal Empathy Machine – Amal Omran (Syria), Hatem Hadawe (Syria), Kathryn Hamilton (Turkey/United States)
- Mind, the Gap – Hani Sami (Egypt)
- Transaction – Mitkhal Alzghair (Syria)
The program is lead by six partners, who produce iconic cultural events with or within the Euro-Mediterranean area: Les Bancs Publics, Marseilles –France; BOZAR, Brussels – Belgium; Dancing on the Edge, Amsterdam – The Netherlands ; Globalize:Cologne international platform for dance & theatre, Cologne – Germany; Studio Emad Eddin Foundation, Sweden / D-CAF Festival, Cairo– Egypt, Shubbak Festival, London– United Kingdom.
