Mokhallad Rasem

Mokhallad Rasem (1981) worked for the National Theatre of Bagdad before the war changed the course of his life. Currently, he lives and works in Belgium. In 2010 he created Iraqi Ghosts, which was presented at the Dancing on the Edge Festival 2011, and which was selected for the Flemish Theatre Festival and won the KBC Creative Award at Theater aan Zee. Other works include Monde.com, Caligula, My Paradise, Djinny and Waiting.  Rasem won the 2013 Young Director’s award at the Saltzburger Festspiele for Romeo & Juliet and the 2014 Act award at the Be festival Birmingham for Waiting. Since 2013 he is a permanent Toneelhuis director.
