Michelle Lai

Michelle is an Eindhoven based ecological practitioner, she has been working as a creative, researcher with a keen interest in the natural world and their interconnections. Currently, she is looking into the trajectories of oil palm plantations in East Indonesia and their historical connections with the VOC. She is keen to clue into current dialogues on food pathways and thought at the Design Academy, to understand what partners and collaborators are seeking to shift or expand on in the Netherlands today. Through design perspectives, she brings to the fore marginal perspectives, urging immediate attention to be paid to situations unfolding on the ground, near and far from the Netherlands.
