Rituals of Change Research Series #2 One in the Hand

…Or how to share a meal. Maureen de Jong is interested in how we relate to each other and our surroundings through food, from dish to plant to soil to seed. You’ll put on an apron, roll up your sleeves and roll out your tongue; squeeze lemon, grind seed and taste stories and flavours that are part of us. With contributions from artist, designer and agri-ecological practitioner Michelle Lai as well as Hanka Hasovic from Sarajevo and her son Adnan, who will guide us through the secrets and movements of making borek. And more.

The kitchen is both a workspace and stage to Maureen, in which she builds a bio-cultural archive driven by personal culinary history and knowledge.

Research #2: One in the Hand is the second of the DOTE Rituals of Change Research Series, which takes place from October till December 2021. These events are experimental theatrical gatherings, proposals in form, co-created with a brew of makers concerned with process, with time spent together, with (colonial) structures and belonging in relation to our bodies & habitat.

The series is part of a conceptual long-line from the online workshop series of 2020 to the DOTE Festival 2022.
