In The Square And Underground

Mohamad Abbasi, Moataz Nasr

Presentation about works of art in the current social and political situation in Iran and Egypt

In this presentation, Mohamad Abbasi gives insight into the current social and political situation in Iran as well as the climate for the arts in Iran. He elaborates on why he thought it necessary to initiate both the Invisible Center of Contemporary Dance and the underground solo dance festival UNTIMELY. Using films from these and other examples, Abbasi sheds light on different underground art and dance movements in Iran.
In addition to Abbasi, renown visual artist Moataz Nasr talks about his work and its relation to the continuously changing situation in his homeland Egypt. Both artists have installation work shown in the festival..
