Mohamed Shafik

The Cairo-based choreographer Mohamed Shafik danced in the dance theater company in the Cairo Opera before building his own group ‘Homma’ as an independent artist in 2000.
Since then, he has choreographed more than 14 works and won a number of choreographic prices, including first prize at the Experimental Theatre Festival in Cairo and the Mediterranean Basin Choreographic Competition. He works regularly in Egypt with his company ‘Homma’, and since 2003 in France, as part of a collaboration with the artist Laurance Rondoni.The Cairo-based choreographer Mohamed Shafik dances in the dance theatre company in the Cairo Opera before building his own group ‘Homma’ as an independent artist in 2000.
